Hello, I’m Victoria Drake.

I write at Victoria.dev and send my letters from here on Substack. To receive my articles and special letters for paid subscribers, you can sign up here.

I’m Director of Engineering for a cybersecurity company that helps protect the privacy and data of millions of people. I serve as a core maintainer and co-author of the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) Web Security Testing Guide. It’s considered the foremost open source resource for web application security testing by organizations and security researchers worldwide. I love what I do.

I learn and teach in public.

I geek out over cybersecurity and building happy and productive technical teams. I share what I learn on Victoria.dev. I earned the annual Top Contributor award from freeCodeCamp three years in a row from 2018 through 2020. I was also recognized two years in a row as a Distinguished Author on the DEV.to developer platform. I’ve written for publications on Medium including The Startup, Better Programming, Towards Data Science, and more.

I practice openness.

More hands make better work. I wholeheartedly build open source products, projects, and welcoming communities in public. You can find all this at github.com/victoriadrake.
